01

Ireland - Virtual Power Plant

This project demonstrates a small rural distribution network with a high degree of DER penetration.

The solution demonstrates the network running as a microgrid, with the capability to perform a blackstart and support external network areas by exporting excess generation using a virtual power plant application.

02

PowerPotential - Energy Market

This project demonstrates an large distribution network. The system includes an interactive energy market where flexibility services (Active Power and Reactive Power) can be procured as part of an energy market for balancing services.

03

Mongolia - Transmission ANM

This project demonstrates a single application system providing thermal and voltage constraint management over a wide geographic area.

Cornwall.jpg

05

United Kingdom - Cornwall

The ANM system provides WPD with the ability to actively manage new generation connections to ensure the network will continue to operate within its operational limit.  Thermal and voltage constraints are a barrier to generator connection on the 132kV and 33kV networks. The ANM controlled network includes three 132kV Grid Supply Points and associated 33kV systems. It manages a LIFO stack of over 81 ANM controlled generators and monitors multiple thermal and voltage constraints over approximately 2000 circuits and 1000 transformers.

Driffield.jpg

04

United Kingdom - Driffield

Driffield is a model based L2 ANM system that manages all constraints, Seasonal Ratings, Shared Ratings and Reverse Power Flow. The system dynamically adapts to actual network topology and in response to thermal constraints setpoints  are issued to DERs based on Merit Stack.

06

United Kingdom - Blyth

This Generation Management System is implemented at a GSP Substation and was required to manage thermal constraints on cables and transformers, voltage constraints and export constraints. The system managed 4 generation sites , 26MW Windfarm ,  20MW Windfarm ,  54MW Windfarm , 400MW Powerstation.

United Kingdom - South Devon

This Generation Management System is implemented at a GSP Substation and was required to manage thermal constraints on cables and transformers, voltage constraints and export constraints. The system managed 4 generation sites , 26MW Windfarm ,  20MW Windfarm ,  54MW Windfarm , 400MW Powerstation.

Orkney_Small.jpg

08

Scottish Isles  - Orkney

This is a thermal constraint management system that is deployed as a hybrid architecture. The Level 2 controller is deployed on the island of Orkney and is connected to the centralised system on the mainland.

Shetland_Small.jpg

09

North Sea  - Shetland Islands ANM

This is a thermal constraint management system that is deployed as a microgrid. The Level 3 controller is deployed centrally but is controlling power on the Sheltand Islands. Currently the network is not connected to the mainland and  must support ANM and Microgrid capabilities.

10

Orkney Islands - Energy Market

The Trader Project creates an Energy Flexibility Market on the island of Orkney that allows local community participation in the wider energy market. It creates virtual generators that are co-ordinated with the existing ANM system on the island.

11

Power Potential - Whole System Operation

This project demonstrates an large distribution network. The system includes an interactive energy market where flexibility services (Active Power and Reactive Power) can be procured as part of an energy market for balancing services.
